Thousand and one nights

Milles et une danses

It’s springtime. Bodies cross paths, invent themselves, respond to one another. A thousand and one dances.

This creation is inspired by One Thousand and One Nights: one dance leads to another, and then another still. Gestures intertwine, stories unfold, individualities emerge and blend into the group. Each dancer searches for their own movement, joins others in theirs, leaves their personal mark or rides the collective wave. Nearness and distance, escapes and returns—the performance takes shape like a living mosaic, composed of many bodies and unique phrasing.

Out in the open air, in the gardens of Reuilly and Chamarande, dance enters into dialogue with nature and music. The grass, the sun, and the sounds become partners in motion. Carried by the beauty of the setting, the 50 participants inhabit the space, each revealing their own way of experiencing dance, shaped by a variety of influences.
