Glissements de regard / Sliding gazes
That session will be dedicated to the bounds between the multiple processes of creating and gazing.
It will rely on the different protocols of creation adopted by several artists to discern what form of gaze they privilege. Choreographers, dancers, an artist and a dance theoretician will associate to build a common protocol from their practices. The project team will experiment that protocol. Twelve students of the dance department of the University of Paris VIII will be invited to share the experience. They will write a text, two by two, confronting their own looks on what they will have done and witnessed. We will find once again [M2] the questions around the terminology of gaze, enriched for the circumstance by the approach of a visual artist.
The issue will be to appropriate the visions of other artists and to look for the differences and how they move, shift and change one’s own practice. It won’t be about doing something according to one or another, but to introduce an unusual element in one’s approach.
Some brief performances will be given in the venue.
Furthermore, before the final performance, the play “Les yeux dans les yeux” will be shown on Thursday night.
On Saturday, before the show , a workshop around gaze will be animated for sixteen inhabitants of the neighbourhood, followed by a round table moderated by a dance journalist.

La Briqueterie – CDC du Val-de-Marne a accueilli du 31 mars au 5 avril 2014 l’événement Gazing and Dancing #2 – Glissements de regard. Cet événement était présenté dans le cadre du projet européen de coopération Gazing and Dancing soutenu par la Commission européenne au titre du programme Culture 2007-2013, porté par la compagnie Mille Plateaux Associés – Geisha Fontaine & Pierre Cottreau. Deux ouvertures publiques ont eu lieu lieu : le vendredi 4 avril 2014 au théâtre Paul Eluard de Choisy-le-Roi à 20h00, et le samedi 5 avril 2014 au sein de la Briqueterie à 20h30, dans la continuité de la journée de l’édition en danse. Ces présentations publiques offraient une conclusion dansée à la thématique du projet : « le regard en danse ».
Gazing & Dancing #2 – Glissements de regard était consacré plus particulièrement au regard du danseur. Le laboratoire interrogeait notamment la dimension physique du regard du danseur impliqué dans diverses démarches de création et s’appuyait sur les différences de protocoles de création adoptés par plusieurs artistes. Il s’attachait également à ce qui constitue le regard du chorégraphe. Des danseurs, des chorégraphes, des scientifiques, des théoriciens et des étudiants en danse étaient invités à questionner les rapports entre ces différents regards.
Plusieurs propositions performatives se sont inscrites durant cette semaine dans les nouveaux espaces de La Briqueterie, ancienne manufacture transformée en centre de danse.
Une création sous influence japonaise pour deux interprètes, « Les yeux dans les yeux », a été proposée le vendredi 4 avril au théâtre Paul Eluard de Choisy-le-Roi, venant apporter une approche décalée sur le thème du regard.
A l’issue de cette semaine de réflexion et d’expérimentations, les artistes ont proposé au public une performance finale: Gazing and Dancing #2, le samedi 5 avril 2014. Cette performance était présentée à l’issue de la journée de l’Edition en danse.
